Every summer since 1998 Naomi Smulian has offered The Mad Hatter Arts Camp – a two-week arts immersion program encompassing visual, musical, dance and theatre arts within a larger context of science and culture. Mad Hatter campers investigate, explore and express themselves in magical ways beyond the scope of school or even after-school art programs.
All the activities of each camp session are focused around a cultural theme, and the ingenious instructors and counselors bring an infectious energy to each endeavor. The camp takes over Lambert Hall and even the sanctuary of Heights Christian Church, so students can play and create no matter what the weather is like.
The Mad Hatter mission – to stimulate the creativity of every child at every moment – is evident on the last day when parents and friends are invited to see and celebrate the artistic products of their campers’ work.
