  • Yvette Colbert – Dance (Sessions 1 & 2) »As a dancer, choreographer, and substitute teacher, Yvette Colbert has been an active part of the dance community for »over 15 years. She is currently the dance director at Dowling Middle School and was the Fine Arts Magnet »Coordinator and dance director for Furr High School, HISD prior to that. She specializes in building successful »dance programs for schools, churches, and organizations who are in need of expanding their dance departments. »As a certified dance teacher in the state of Texas, Mrs. Colbert has led her students to win numerous awards »and trophies in the area and regional competitions, parades, and talent show. She judges for area dance team auditions »and participates in many of Houston’s professional dance educational company outreach programs. She also currently »has a partnership with the Houston Ballet to bring master classes to her students at Dowling Middle School. »Yvette has been the founder and artistic director for Divinity Dance Company, a non-profit dance company providing »dance and theater classes for under-served youth in the Houston area. Mrs. Colbert looks forward to continuing to »serve the dance community by building the dance program at Dowling Middle School and providing the best opportunities »for her students to flourish.
  • Le’Andre Douglas – Dance (Session 3) »Le’Andre Douglas is a nationally accomplished dancer, choreographer, and teacher with over 5 years of professional »dance experience. He has taught hip-hop at Houston Community College, City Dance, Break Free, and Movement Lab. He »strives to revolutionize dance and theatre.
  • Lisa Edmondson – Science (Sessions 1 & 2) and Art 2 (Session 3) »Lisa Edmondson has filled many roles for Mad Hatter over the last 12 years. »She earned her BFA in Theatre at Southern Methodist University and spent several years »in professional theater and was a founding member of InterActive Theater Company in Houston, Texas.
    »Currently, Lisa teaches art at the Art Studio on the Boulevard and home schools her two children.
  • Eva Felder – Science (Session 1) »Eva Felder brings a wealth of multicultural experience and creative energy to camp. Born in Transylvania, Romania, »she lived in Israel and Venezuela as a child and moved to Texas as an adult. She has worked as a pre-kindergarten teacher »in the dual language program at Helms Elementary in the Houston Heights. Eva will share her enthusiasm for art, science and »Spanish with our campers. In addition to Spanish, Eva speaks Romanian, Hebrew, Yiddish, and English. She loves all things »international and artistic.
  • Chris Howard – Music »Chris Howard has been performing as a percussionist in Houston since 1997. He has played with numerous bands and ensembles »covering a broad array of traditions including Bulgarian, Greek, Turkish, West African, Spanish, Cuban, Brazilian, Funk and Jazz. »Chris loves to play for dance and often accompanies classes and workshops at Houston Ballet, HCC, Hope Stone Studio, Barnevelder, »The Houston Met, U of H and the JCC. Also a lover of theater, Chris has played for musicals at Theatre Lab Houston, HCC, Main St. »Theatre and Stages Repertory Theatre. He currently plays with Cafe Khytaro, Solero Flamenco, Free Radicals and Bateria Terceira Costa. »Chris infuses his classes with a sense of cultural and self-exploration and expression.
  • Kaitlin Knapp – Art 1 (Sessions 1 & 2) and Science (Session 3) »Kaitlin Knapp has always had a love of art and began taking classes at Art Studio on the Boulevard when she was 8 years old. She has been working »in the art room at Mad Hatter for over 10 years, and it is through this work that she discovered her love for teaching children. »She has been a teacher at Art Studio on the Boulevard for over 5 years, bringing creativity and fun to every class. Kaitlin is currently a senior at »the University of Houston, pursuing a major in chemistry, with a minor in mathematics. Her goal is to continue her love of teaching as a chemistry professor.
  • Leslie Lenert – Culture Clash »Leslie Lenert is a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in English and a proud alumna of Houston’s High School for the Performing »and Visual Arts, where she studied voice. She has performed in Houston with Main Street Theater for Youth, the A.D. Players, Houston Family Arts »Center, and Eklektix Theatre Company, College of the Mainland Theatre, and Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center. Her teaching experience ranges »from age 4 to adult, and she has taught theater at camps and satellite schools through Main Street Theater, the A.D. Players’ Theater Arts Academy, »and Hope Stone, Inc. Leslie believes that everyone should be given the freedom to engage with art and play and tries to make her classes a safe and »fun place to do so.
  • Yu Cha Pak – Art 1 (Sessions 1 & 2) »I studied Classical Oriental Art in Seoul Korea. I immigrated to the United States where I continued my »studies at the Florida Institute of Technology, receiving a diploma in fine arts. I also studied printmaking »at the Student League of New York City and Glassell School of Art in Houston, Texas. I have been full-time »artist for past 25 years and have illustrated several children’s books.
  • Tonya Pullum-Watson – Drama »Tonya Watson has worked as a professional actress for over 35years, with stage, television, film and voiceover experience. »She is a graduate of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts »degree in Drama.Her husband and four children returned to Houston, her hometown, to allow her children to grow up »closer to the family. Her teaching experience includes working for the Los Angeles Unified School District and having »homeschooled her own children. She loves the energy and innovation that come from working with the children at »Mad Hatter Art Camp.

  • Lezlie Silverstein – Science (Sessions 2 & 3) »Lezlie is a fun, silly, and creative teacher, ready to make art with whatever is at hand. She obtained a BFA in sculpture and photography from »Washington University in St. Louis, and her MFA in sculpture from Cranbrook Academy.
  • Pam Steward – Art 1 (Session 3) »Pam lives and makes art in the Houston Heights, a great neighborhood for artists. A graphic designer for many years, she »joyfully returned to fine art and has studied at the University of Houston, the University of St. Thomas, and extensively » at the Glassell School of Art. She explores the creative process in a variety of media including photography, alternative »print processes, and large oils on canvas. Her work is in numerous private collections and she has illustrated several »children’s books. She also teaches at Art Studio on the Boulevard.
  • Tamar Tcholakian – Art 2 »Tamar graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY in 2009 with a BFA in painting. She is currently teaching art in HISD and during »her summers is proud to teach at both Mad Hatter and The MFAH Glassell Junior School of Art. She spends her free time pursuing her art »career as well.
